6 Week Community Garden Programme at Teach na nDaoine
When: Wednesdays March – April 6pm-7pm Where: Community Garden & Portacabin Who: Youth Café Wed group 7-11 yr olds Involves: · Sowing seeds – Propagation using recycled materials · Organic/Environmentally friendly planting · Seed foraging – How to grow, methods of growing · Composting · Homemade wormery’s · Transplanting plants/growing on Week 1. Planting seeds in trays using recycled trays for propagation in homemade propagator Week 2. Making Homemade plant pots using newspaper and recycled materials Week 3. Searching for and collecting seeds from our local environment, introduction to cuttings Week 4. Introduction to composting, what to use, important factors, homemade bins Week 5. How to make a wormery at home, looking after it, how it works. Week 6. Transplant seedlings planted in week one. How to grow from pinning down/staking plants |
